The metaverse will portray the rich Culture of Saudi Arabia and it shows the growing use of metaverse in the region.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture unveiled a landmark initiative, the Cultural Universe metaverse. This is aimed at preserving and showcasing the nation’s rich cultural heritage dating back to 1727. Launched on Feb. 22, the metaverse offers users an immersive journey through Saudi Arabia’s history. It leverages Oracle’s Hyperledger Fabric 2.5 blockchain technology. It also uses droppGroup’s Generative Media Intelligence AI system, droppPhygital.
The Cultural Universe metaverse adopts a first-person shooter approach. This allow users to navigate through virtual representations of historical events and landmarks. Users can explore freely along a designated path. And there are voice audio guides providing detailed explanations of each event in Arabic. However, the absence of English audio limits accessibility for non-Arabic speakers.
The Universe encompasses sectors dedicated to music, art, history, food, crafts, and mini-games. This offers a comprehensive exploration of Saudi heritage. The service is accessible across various platforms. This including websites, mobile devices, virtual reality headsets, and other digital devices. Thus, reflecting the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to inclusivity and global engagement.
